SUNDAY WORSHIP - 8:30 & 11AM

Stories of Proclaiming Christ

Have you ever been called to something that is so outside your

comfort zone, that you know without a doubt that it is God calling you to

His purpose? Four years ago God pricked my heart with a unique call for a

very specific people group right here in Amarillo. God called me to share

His love with the women who work in Gentlemen’s Clubs in our town.

Convinced that God knew what He was doing, I answered. I clearly

remember saying “all right God, I hear you, I don’t know what this means

or what you need but, I’m in.”

With such a specific call, God surely just needed me to jump on

board with an existing group. I started calling agencies in Amarillo to see

what ministries were already serving the women that God laid on my heart.

The answer I kept getting was “oh yes, someone should do something”.

There were no current ministry opportunities to join. So I began

researching groups around the country that minister to similar groups in

other areas. I found a few and with that God started making His plan clear.

At the same time, God was working in other women’s hearts in our

church and placing the same desire for the same ladies. Over the next

year, God showed Himself in crystal clear fashion. He brought together 5

women who began praying and visiting about what we could do. He also

opened some community connections that were instrumental to the

development of His plan. This is an amazing story of details that only God

could bring together.

With the blessing of our TBC ministerial staff, a group named

BeLoved was formed. We currently have 7 active participants and 2 prayer

warriors. Our mission is to demonstrate God’s love to the women in

Amarillo who work in Gentlemen’s Clubs. The Scripture God placed on our

hearts as our guide is 1 John 4:7 "Beloved, let us love one another, for love

is from God." We demonstrate this love through tangible small monthly

gifts. The gifts are homemade cookies, pampering items, flowers, etc.

Each gift has a handwritten note of encouragement and scripture. This

August marks the two-year point of intentional monthly visits. We take 40

gifts each month as we plant seeds of the gospel. We have gospel

conversations during our visit and share non-judgmental encouragement

with the ladies as well as the employees in the clubs.

God has opened the door to a dark place where the definition of love

is so very tainted. He graciously equips us each month as we rely on Him

for strength and protection to enter this dark world to spread His light and

the truth of His unconditional love.

We covet your prayers for the BeLoved ministry.
