Church Family:
In 2020 we focused on being the church that reads, meditates on, and memorizes selected passages of Scripture. And while we should never move beyond this focus, in 2021 our church will focus on being disciples who live and love like Jesus. As a church, our focus will be to proclaim Christ and make disciples who live and love like Jesus.
Having spent months in the Gospel of Matthew, and then closing the year with a series on the Fruit of the Spirit, we ought to have a good idea of what it looks like to live and love like Jesus. I am convinced that what our world needs is faithful followers of Jesus Christ who embrace God's call on their lives to proclaim Christ and make disciples. We can be sure that the more that we live and love like Jesus, the more effective our witness will be and the more attentive our listeners will be.
Over the course of the next few days and the next few weeks, we will be inviting you to join with your church family in prayer over various topics that relate to our 2021 FOCUS. Be on the lookout for a January Prayer Calendar that we created. During the week of January 4-8, our staff will lead 5-minute virtual prayer times. Next week, we will be promoting 4 unique prayer gatherings that we encourage you to attend. In the coming days, you will be able to find these resources on our church website by clicking the Resources tab and then the 2021 FOCUS Week tab.
If we have learned anything over the past year, it is that we cannot do anything of eternal value apart from God's Spirit and God's grace. So, as we enter 2021, my prayer is that we will be a church characterized by people who live and love like Jesus. May God be glorified in us and through us!
